Our Dogs

The Vizsla is a dog breed originating in Hungary.  The Hungarian or Magyar Vizsla are sporting dogs and loyal companions in addition to being the smallest of the all-around pointer-retriever breeds.  The Vizsla's medium size is one of the breed's most appealing characteristics as a hunter of fowl and upland game.  Through the centuries the Vizsla has held the rare position among sporting dogs of household companion and family dog.
The Vizsla is a natural hunter endowed with an excellent nose and an outstanding trainability.  Although they are lively, gentle-mannered, affectionate and sensitive, they are also fearless and possess a well developed protective instinct.

Breed History

Little Maggie BLY 10/6/2002

Our first Vizsla was Maggie.  She was just what a Vizsla is expected to be.  She loved to run with us on the horses and she loved to hunt.  Most of all she loved her family.  Wherever we were, she had to be.  We lost her to cancer in May 2012.

Ginger BLY  8/2/2012

Ginger (SR74222407) came to us from Mira Vizslas.

She has a gentle and kind disposition with adults and especially children.  She is lively and loves to run.  She has gone many miles with us on the horses.  She hunts well alone or in a group.  Her hips are OFA rated Excellent.  Her elbows are OFA rated Normal.  The nickname of "Velcro Dog" certainly applies.  She wants to be with us wherever we are.

Balu Von Den Passienen  7/24/2015

Balu (SR 91714801) was bred and born in Rosenhagen, Germany by Frank and Silvia Krause.  We chose to import him at 10 weeks old based on the disposition and strong hunting instincts of his parents.  Balu is only 1 generation removed from Hungary where the breed originated.  Balu is a strong, beautiful boy.  His first offspring arrived October 13, 2018.  They are beautiful.  He continues to be friendly and loves people.  He would spend all day, everyday pointing the squirrels in the back yard.  He is a well seasoned hunter with the end of his third season coming to a close.  His PennHIP rating is excellent with minimal risk of developing osteoarthritis and even more unlikely to develop hip dysplasia. His elbows are normal and eye screening normal.

Bar Lazy Y's Little Lady Gem

Gem is the female we kept from Ginger's first litter born June 7, 2016.  Her mother rules the roost but Gem has let Balu know size does not dictate the hierarchy.   Gem is a winner in the show ring as well as a hunter.  She is a gentle and loving.  She has had two beautiful litters that possess her gentle nature.

BLY Belle
Belle is a confident female from Ginger's second litter.  She is a loveable and curious girl born Aug 16, 2017. She is a hunter through and through.  She was shown in the conformation ring as well.  Unfortunately, Covid shut things down before she could finish her championship.  Our only option was to send her away with the trainer for 3-6 months.  this we chose not to do.  She is hunting and has started agility.
